This year’s Thames Foreshore walk dates: new locations and topics

Dear Clay Appreciator,

We have studied the tide tables and have pleasure in announcing the dates of this year’s Clayground Foreshore Walks.  As usual, they will be led by the amazing Mike Webber, specialist Thames archaeologist.  We shall be leading one Roman walk and two on the London Delftware potters.  We are offering two new walks this year.  The first, in June, is a walk on Westminster Beach with a focus on the development of the Lambeth potteries on the opposite bank and the historic role of ceramic industrialist, Henry Doulton, in shaping London and its drainage infrastructure. The second is an evening walk in Wapping with a focus on London’s international trading history.

The walks book out very quickly, so please click on the dates below to go through to the Eventbrite booking page with further details about practicalities, costs, timings and locations.

Here are the dates and times:

Roman – now fully booked.  Waitlist in operation.
Saturday 22nd April meet 9.15

London Delftware – availability
Sunday May 7th meet at 9.30

London Delftware – low availability
Sunday June 11th meet 1.30

Doulton and Lambeth potteries from Westminster – now fully booked.  Waitlist in operation.
Saturday July 8th meet at 11.00

Wapping International Trade – now fully booked.  Waitlist in operation.
Saturday July 15th meet at 1700 (note evening meet up)

We look forward to seeing you over the coming months and to learning more about London and ceramics through fragments found on the beach.

Best wishes

The Clayground Collective Team
